“Some of our greatest treasures we place in museums; others we take for a walk.” ~ Roger Caras
Beagle Rescue League, Inc. was founded in 2011 by Carolyn Sterner and Patricia Favata. After having opened the east coast chapter of Cascade Beagle Rescue in 2006, it was clear that the needs of this local area would be better served by an organization with all key Board members in the same area and with the same mission. Luckily, the transition from one to the other was pretty easy given that the volunteers, shelters and facilities that came to know and trust us just continued to do so. We are very proud of the strides we made in offering adoption options to beagles retiring from biomedical research, and in developing a strong organization filled with a lot of “firsts” in the world of rescue.
Due to unforeseen circumstances and significant medical issues with volunteers and the remaining director, Carolyn Sterner, Beagle Rescue League had to close intake in 2017-2018 and concentrate its support on assisting our adopters, and the dogs in our Guardian Angels Program. Patricia Favata left the organization at that time. We hope that sometime in the future, intake can resume and we can continue the amazing work we started!
Beagle Rescue League, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation formed for the purpose of rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing unwanted beagles. Our beagles find their way into our program through many venues – from shelters, research facilities, and with the help of animal control officers. All of our dogs are brought up to date on vaccinations, and we make sure they are heartworm negative, neutered/spayed and micro-chipped before they go to their forever homes.
Every dog is fostered in a private home and we try our very best to match pets and new owners based on the the proper fit for both parties.
All of our dogs deserve a second chance and we are proud to be the vehicle that drives them (sometimes literally) from a life with an uncertain future to one in a loved and stable forever home!
